Strand 3: Generic Skills

We are currently updating all our Training pages according to our DTP3 strategic plans. We hope to have all training details for 2020-2021 confirmed and published by early September 2020.

Our approach to Generic Skills Training responds to the widely recognised need that research training should be complemented by training in transferable, professional and generic skills. As the knowledge economy expands, employers expect advanced professional skills in addition to excellent qualifications. Such skills complement a researcher's profile and enhance their employability in the future.

Impact workshop at the 2013 Symposium

All our students are expected to attend a number of transferable skills workshops at critical stages of their studies, in Year 1, 2, 3 and 4. All such training needs to be recorded to the student Training Plan and Record by the end of each year and submitted to EASTBIO, whether mandatory worskhops provided by EASTBIO or taken  at a partner instituion.
