EASTBIO Annual Symposium 2014

The EASTBIO Annual Symposium 2014 was held in Dundee on 28-29 August on the topic of Bioscience Research. The welcome address was delivered by Professor J. Julian Blow FRSE FMedSci (Centre for Gene Regulation & Expression,College of Life Sciences, University of Dundee).

The programme was developed by our student representatives and supported by the host partner institution, the University of Dundee. It featured talks by invited speakers on each priority area: Professor Doreen Cantrell, Professor Pete Smith on Food Security, Professors Keith Lindsey on World Class Bioscience and Frank Sargent on Bioenergy and Industrial Biotechnology. There were also brief presentations by our second year students and poster presentations by our first year students. Best presentation prizes were awarded to Sybille Mittmann and Magali Sivakumaran at the conclusion of the Symposium.
